The pattern on this stunning coat is a traditional Uzbek design known as Sun Disks. The Sun Disk design is rooted in ancient beliefs, the motifs have magical meanings and are believed to drive away evil spirits.
The silk fabric that the embroidery is on is handwoven on a loom. Our tailor sends the template/pattern of the coat to the artist in Marglin where the pattern of sun disk is drawn by our artists. To create the symmetrical look they join the blank panels and draw the images with a pencil. Then the panels are separated and a group of our talented artisans hand embroider the pattern. To achieve such a depth and detail of pattern the threads are specially chosen for their quality and colour, a time consuming and detailed process.
The next step is to “age” the fabric of the coat to create a vintage look. The completed panels are then sent to the seamstress to put together to create this magnificent coat.
