The Bukhara school of embroidery has its own signature characteristics, the chain stitch being one of its most distinctive features. A close look at a Suzani made by the craftswomen of Bukhara will reveal plenty of small details that bring the whole composition together beautifully. Modern embroidery from Bukhara often includes sprouts with flowers spread all over the surface of the fabric and round rosettes. Bukhara Suzanis often have a wide outer border with large flora medallions in two shades of red (an orange-red and a rose-red) that are intertwined with graceful, meandering vines.
